L.A. Pride is a true sports enthusiast. A former youth, and division II assistant basketball coach, who studied the martial arts, he enjoys and follows all sports, even hockey. His quick wit and insight brings a fresh view to the world of sports. You may not always agree with him, but you will enjoy his highly opinionated thoughts.

Or is football gearing up to retake its spot on the food chain? NFL training camps are now officially opened and coaches and players are back to work, doing what they do best, yelling and colliding into one another. Some of the teams have had full pad workouts already and the business of football is at hand.

There are numerous stories that we intend to follow this season, but for now follow this link and enjoy a look at the men in charge of the teams-The Head Coach:

Or is the NBA still the hot item on the sports’ page? Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been dealt a severe blow to his fight to keep ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers. A judge has ruled that Sterling is not mentally able to handle his affairs and his wife Shelly has the right to make decisions regarding the Clippers. The judge also said that Shelly negotiated a fair deal for the sale of the team and it should be allowed to go forward.

The only thing that is surprising in this decision is that it took the judge so long to declare Donald Sterling incompetent. Just listening to the vile and foul things Sterling said was enough to lead you to question his mental capacity. ‘Diaper Don’ still has a lawsuit or two pending, so he’s not going away tomorrow, but the pole has been greased and he’s about to slide away…with a lot of money.

LeBron has decided to wear number 23 upon his return to the Cavaliers. The perfect decision for him and the fans. It allows the fans to pull out their old jerseys and be cool and current. It also saves the fans a dollar or two because they don’t have to upgrade to a new jersey and lastly number 6 was worn by a member of the Heat named James, not Ohio’s beloved LeBron.

Derrick Rose, guard, Chicago Bulls, reportedly looked great working out with USA Basketball.   Rose, who has missed most of the last two seasons due to knee injuries, is making a comeback over the summer with the U.S. national team. He has been able to play at full speed, with contact and has shown improvement with his midrange jump shot, in addition to playing great defense. Rose has gotten winded a couple of times due to not playing, but his conditioning is improving with each workout. If he remains healthy throughout the season the Bulls are a real threat in the east, with Rose, newly acquired P. Gasol and J. Noah and the rest of the crew.

Speaking of threats, are the Timber Wolves going to trade Kevin Love or not? It seems like every week there is a new deal in place and Love is moving. NOT! The N.Y. Knicks offered A. Stoudemire, T. Hardaway, Jr., and Iman Shumpert for Love. But were turned down.   Mr. Double-Double (Love) is increasing in value each day. I would caution teams to be careful of these mega deals they don’t always work out as planned.

The other Los Angeles team finally hired a coach. Byron Scott, an ex Laker has officially accepted the head coaching job of the Lakers. Now his troubles begin. He has to deal with Kobe Bryant and a depleted roster. Kobe likes and respects Scott, they were teammates and Scott helped bring Kobe along. Kobe may think differently of Byron as his coach. It is hard to work with friends.
